What automatic palletizing is
It is the operation of stacking and arranging boxes or loads onto a pallet using automatic systems, following a pattern that optimises stability and space use. It replaces a repetitive, physically demanding task.
Types of palletizing
- Robotic palletizing: a robot with a gripper or suction cup places the boxes; very flexible for multiple formats and patterns.
- Cartesian/gantry palletizing: linear axes for heavy loads and high throughput.
- Layer palletizing: forms complete layers and deposits them; ideal for large homogeneous volumes.
- Collaborative palletizing (cobot): for smaller volumes and spaces shared with operators.
