VAVIT Project: Artificial Vision Implemented in the wine sector to Ensure an Excellent Packaging Process

13 - 12 - 2023

With pride, we share the progress of the VAVIT project, a joint initiative of the viticultural cluster Innovi and the packaging cluster, where AIS Vision Systems, a prominent member of the Packaging Cluster, has played an essential role.

We are now in the final stage of development of this exciting project after weeks dedicated to mechanical designs and extensive visits to vineyard facilities.

AIS Vision Systems has firmly addressed two critical dimensions: sustainability, in collaboration with Vallformosa, and food safety, working hand in hand with Juvé i Camps. In this context, we have developed quality control solutions to ensure the perfection of the process in both wineries. From ensuring that Vallformosa’s new tirage cork is correctly placed in 100% of the bottles without injection defects, to confirming the absence of solid residues in all bottles from Juvé i Camps. This latter step is crucial in the production of Cava.

Furthermore, our actions are strengthened by a 360-degree inspection using deep learning technology, thoroughly analyzing all elements of a wine bottle. Through this fascinating fusion of tradition and innovation, we are demonstrating how our technology can lead to exceptional results.

At AIS Vision Systems, we are delighted to be an active part of this story of transformation and progress. With enthusiasm, we look forward to seeing how these initiatives redefine the future of wines and cavas. Over the next two months, we will address the final stages of the project with the aim of successfully concluding it by December 2023.

It is essential to highlight that this project has received co-financing from ACCIO (Agency for Business Competitiveness) within the program of Initiatives to Strengthen Competitiveness, aimed at the clusters participating in the Catalonia Clusters program.

This project is the result of the coordination of the clusters of INNOVI (viticulture) and Packaging (packaging and labeling), and the Catalan government has contributed €64,500 to facilitate its development.
