After having passed the design and technological contextualization phases in quality inspection processes on printed samples, the project begins its final phase.

Last August 2022, the CICLOP project started with a clear purpose: to develop a quality assurance system in the production of decorative panels and large-format coverings. The emergence of artificial vision represents a great opportunity in the development of quality control systems, especially in large-format printing environments where inspection guidelines through human control are relegated to simple sampling control.

Allowing the integration of artificial vision technology in high-resolution large-format printing represents a qualitative leap in the quality control process in industrial environments. To achieve this, during the first months of the project, work has been done to define the technological architecture for proper image capture as well as high-resolution image processing for prompt defect detection.

During the first phase of the project, samples of panels with printing defects have been analyzed in a laboratory environment whose inspection has allowed the equipment to be dimensioned for installation in the production environment. A total of three linear cameras with 8K resolution will allow analyzing pieces up to 1250mm wide at a speed of 30m/min. The adaptive design of the solution will also allow adjustment for different product conditions, covering piece thicknesses between 4 and 60mm.

AIS Vision Systems has been one of the collaborating companies in this CICLOP project, together with BARINSA, VALLS CLIMENT and the organizations AMBIT (Living Spaces Cluster) and FUNCTIONAL PRINT (Functional Printing Cluster) within the framework of project AEI-010500-2022b-308 financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism thanks to the recovery plan and funds from the European Union.
